10 Best Video Editing Laptops under 500
Comparison table coming soon.
1.ASUS F512DA-EB51-(Best Video Editing Laptop Under 500)
This laptop is one of the best video editing laptop under 500 budget as it may cover all the points which are necessary for a video editor.
This is a stylish and thin laptop and it sports a rather large 15.6 inches screen. The screen is full HD at 1920 by 1080 pixels.
This is an IPS panel with its LED-backlit and it has a really wide viewing angle of 178 degrees which means you can use this laptop at skew angles and the image and text are still going to look sharp.
The interesting thing about this laptop is its actually comes with an Anti-Glare coating. Because most of the laptops in the market these days comes with glossy screen and the glossy screen makes the laptop very prone to reflection.
If you are using that kind of laptop next to a bright window or a light source, I know it’s very irritating.
So there the Asus puts the Anti-Glare coating which dramatically reduces the reflection, so this makes it very useful.
Asus has managed to trim down the bezels on all four corners, so it does not feel bulky. Asus puts an HD Webcam on the middle top bezels which looks perfect viewing angle.
According to Asus, this laptop may give all-day battery timing but it’s not the truth because most of the experts observe only 8-9 hours of battery timing a day.
The touchpad is very responsive and it comes with windows 10 precision drives, so it supports multi-finger gestures. You know scrolling with your fingers pinch and zoom.
All the typical Multi-Touch Finger Gestures are supported. The tactile feedback on the touchpad is also really nice.
Instead of using Intel, this laptop is using AMD Ryzen R5-3500U Quad-Core Processor with a speed of 3.6 GHz. Which is pretty good.
The GPU this laptop uses Radeon Vega 8 Graphics, which is very good for casual editing.
This laptop offers 8GB DDR4 RAM and 256GB PCIe SSD memory which is very good for a videographer. So if you are planning to run Adobe Premiere Pro or Adobe After Effects, that may run smoothly.
But I would recommend you to upgrade its RAM after some time because it may disturb you during multi-tasking like using both software at a time.

2.Acer Aspire 5-(Best Responsible Video Editing Laptop under 500)
This laptop is consistently rated at the top of amazon’s bestseller list and it can be purchased at a very reasonable price now.
The built quality of this laptop is very good, although it not comes with all-metal construction it feels very solid in hands.
This is because the top half of the laptop is built using an aluminum frame. This keeps the laptop’s wear down while giving it a sleek and modern design.
The Acer also improves the hinge mechanism, the new hinge runs through the entire length of the laptop, making it very durable.
Acer comes with a Full-Size Backlit Keyboard, the backlit can be turn on and off, but the intensity of lighting is not user adjustable.
It still provides nice tactile feedback for a comfortable typing experience.
The Trackpad measures 4 by 2 by 3 inches with a smooth Fogg finish, even though it’s made of plastic, not from glass, but still, it’s very smooth and lets your fingers glid effortlessly.
With its 15.6 Inches Full HD IPS Display, you can easily perform any of your tasks because no other laptop offers the IPS panel in this price range.
Its IPS display delivers bright images with vibrant colors, text looks sharp even at skrew angles, whether you are editing any of your video or something, this screen is a pleasure to look at.
If I talk about its CPU performance, then this laptop comes with AMD Ryzen 3 3200U with Vega 3 Graphics which is a pretty good processor for video editing tasks.
So you don’t need to be worried about its performance because it will run any heavy software you need, such as Adobe Premiere Pro or After Effects. You can say it’s a fast-budget laptop.
It comes with 4GB DDR4 RAM and 128GB SSD which is very fast and runs like a champion. You can also upgrade the RAM and SSD if you want, but according to me, it’s good enough.
Now let’s talk about the battery life, so this laptop delivers around about 6-7 Hours of Battery Timing which I think not stellar but it gets the job done.
This laptop comes with bottom-firing stereo speakers, these are typical budget laptop speakers, so nothing to expect very particularly.
You will get the job done with these speakers if you are watching youtube videos or any casual activity but if you want a good quality or gaming or movie night voice, so you should go with a headphone which may improve your productivity.
On this laptop, you’ll found a Bluetooth Transmitter, which is quite good allowing you to go outside the room, or even if you’re in your second room, the signals will not drop.
Aspire 5 gives you a 720-Pixel Webcam that is mounted at the center of the top bezel, which creates a very good angle. So if you are using Zoom or doing any conference with the client or something you don’t face any issue with the webcam.
On this laptop, you’ll get 1 USB 3.0 genuine port and 2 old-school USB 2.0 ports. Unfortunately, theirs no USB type-C port on the Ryzon model of this laptop.

3.Lenovo IdeaPad 3
The Lenovo Ideapad 3 is a 14 inches laptop being around 3.3 pounds of weight just like most other laptops in this price range. Ideapad is made of polycarbonate but its surface feels very premium when holding the laptop in hands.
This laptop is made of plastic but you don’t feel any kind of cracking or banding sound while hinging it.
Lenovo Ideapad 3 comes with an island-style keyboard that offers larger than the average keycaps.
This Ideapad 3 has an AMD Ryzen 3500U Quad-Core Processor with a 2.1 gigahertz base 3.7 gigahertz boost which will help you to edit videos quickly.
With the 8GB DDR4 RAM and 256GB nvme SSD, you don’t need to be worried about its performance, because it will run like a racing car.
If I talk about its Graphic quality, then this laptop comes with AMD Radeon Vega 8 Graphics, which can help you render the videos that you wanna create.
The good thing about Lenovo is that it always did a pretty good job of making even their budget laptops appear neat simple and professional.
Now if I talk about this laptop weighs 4.08 pounds and that’s relatively heavy for a laptop this configuration but once again. It’s a testimony to the fact that it’s a very slim profile and well-built laptop despite being made with the hardest TPU build starting.
If you open up the laptop lid right away, the first thing you’ll notice is that Lenovo does a great job at keeping the grey color theme consistent throughout the laptop.
When you were using this laptop you’ll notice that the palm rest has a generous amount of space. The trackpad is what really surprised me in terms of its quality it’s really well built. It doesn’t feel like a budget trackpad. The clicks are nice and tactile.
Moving on to the bezels which are relatively thin and they are pretty much in line with laptops of this category. However, you found a fat chin at the bottom which is not uncommon for laptops in this price range.
There’s a small webcam on the top of the screen with a privacy shutter, which may help you, during your meetings with a client or something else like that.
The battery timing is very good, one of the users says that it gives 7-8 hours of battery timing with consistent use, but probably depends on your use.

4.Dell Latitude E7250-(Best Laptop for Video Editing and Photo Editing under 500)
Dell Latitude E7250 is also known as a business laptop within a responsive price range.
The 7000 series is their highest level kind of mainstream business laptops as the 5000 series is considered as a little bit lower while the 7000 series are kind of thinner and lighter versions.
This laptop has an Intel Core i7 Fifth Generation Processor which is kind of interesting because for a laptop of this size of 12.5 Inches usually, the more important thing is mobility and not so much horsepower CPU performance.
But this one has a Core i7 Processor in it which is strange but useful for some people for sure. The overall aesthetics are really nice in my opinion.
It does attract some fingerprints but not it’s really not that bad and it just makes it really premium.
Both the back and sides have fairly thin profiles, not the thinnest out there but pretty thin and fit into your backpack or laptop bag very easily.
The Keyboard is a pretty good size if you’re used to like a 14 inches laptop going to 12.5 inches not gonna be a huge difference.
The one thing that is missing a track point, so I believe the 14 inches 745o model has a track point with you know these two clicky buttons on the top of the trackpad.
As it is a small keyboard, the decision to remove that track point is a good one. The keyboard is backlit which is nice for working in darker environments.
The trackpad is of a good size, they can get it to the sizably because there they removed the track point and the mouse buttons are associated with it.
The good point about this laptop is that they are offering 16GB DDR3 RAM with 256 GB SSD Storage within this price range.
If we compare it with some other laptops with this price tag, mostly they just offer a small number of RAM and Memory but this laptop is all one solution.
So with this processor and the speed of 2.6GHz, you can easily perform your task without any hanging issue.
It has 3 USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI, one mini display port, and one SD Card Slot included.
The webcam quality is quite acceptable because it has only a 720-pixel resolution. It’s okay, not very good but not very bad.
It has a battery timing of 9-10 Hours a day. Which is very excellent for performing any kind of task.
One thing that I like about the latitude and other business-oriented laptops from Hp and Lenovo is how easy it is to access most of the internal components, always the components that you’re going to maintain more often.

5.HP 14-Inch Laptop
What sets the Hp 14 apart or rather what the main USP of this laptop is, is the fact that it comes with a 4G slot built-in, so you can actually take a sim card pop it in and you have the connectivity wherever you go.
For an entry-level laptop to offer a full had display is great, it’s a reflective panel but you’ll be surprised as to how well controlled the reflectivity is.
Not only is it good for surprising reflections but its also a fairly bright panel that locked a brightness of 41o lux,
Using a lux meter and using it outdoors under the bright sun was not a problem at all like everything is fairly easy and very clearly legible.
So that’s a very big plus point because what we’ve seen is those entry-level laptops tend to have these washed-out pan VA panels which don’t really you know give you any kind of good feeling visually but the Hp panel is amazing.
The Keyboard offers really good travel, the response is very good, the keys are they feel fairly tactile and the typing experience, in general, is very amazing.
This is something that reinforces the belief that the Hp 14 would be best served in the hands of a student who has to do a lot of typing, a lot of project work, a lot of presentations, or maybe somebody whose job requires a lot of typing.
The Trackpad on the other hand sort of pulls the whole experience down. Hp still does not use the precision drivers and therefore the gesture navigation using this trackpad is just not happening.
The trackpad feels sluggish, the keys although are all right to use the right-click and the left click but overall the trackpad is not that great, you would just be better served using an external mouse.
This Hp 14-inches laptop is powered by the Intel Core i3 processor, its a 10th generation processor, It has 4GB RAM, 128GB Solid State drive, and a full HD Glossy panel but the glossy panel has very good anti-reflective properties.
The good point is that the RAM and Storage can be upgraded as much you need.
From a specification point of view, it looks fairly entry-level for a laptop, and that it is.
The best thing about this laptop is that it has a Bios Recovery and protection which automatically checks the health of your PC and protects you from every attack on your laptop.
The battery timing is not too much but quite acceptable for performing small tasks.

6.Samsung Chromebook V2
The Samsung XE520QAB-K02US also known as Samsung Chromebook V2 which is a good value for money.
This laptop is well put together its got nice rounded edges and it just feels good in the hands and is overall a really solid feeling.
There’s a little bit of flex if you wrench on it but in general, it feels pretty good and Chromebooks in this price range, Samsung did a good job putting it together.
This laptop has an Intel Core m3 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB Memory with a 13MP Camera which is pretty much acceptable if you are looking for the best video editing laptop for under 500 dollars.
One thing that you may notice is that there’s a plastic bottom and that’s not that odd honestly there are quite a few Chromebooks even in higher price brackets also have a plastic bottom.
Overall the color of the device is really cool it’s a little bit of a unique take on the powder of aluminum finish.
It’s a little bit darker more akin to what you see on the new Macbook pro and stuff like that the space grey but it’s just an overall great color the device just looks really good.
The Hinge is pretty sturdy so when you’re touching on the screen that’s not really an issue either it just feels a little weird, usually the bottom end of the device is a little heavier than the screen, and it’s not exactly the case here.
Ultimately, it’s bright enough around 300 nits, it’s not quite as bright as the panel you get on the x2 and the pixel book stuff like that. They are 400 nits panels, but it’s 3 to 350 I think somewhere in there, and honestly, day-to-day use is just fine.
It would probably struggle a little bit outside under direct sunlight and normal light situations like in coffee shops in an office near a window all those, it’s just fine.
The good thing about this laptop is that you’ll get a Built-in Pen experience, as you are using it for video editing it may help you in editing as it is the best 2 in 1 video editing laptop under 500.
It has a display resolution of 1900 by 1200 Pixels and with this resolution, everything looks very sharp.
The benefit you have here is that you get a little bit of a bump in performance because it doesn’t have to push all of those pixels on the screens.
The Keyboard and Trackpad on this device are just standout. The click Enos of the keys that travel and just the overall experience of using the keyboard in general for you is fantastic.
The same could be said for the trackpad I don’t know exactly what it’s made of, but it resists oils the click mechanism is great, it’s quiet but it works really very well.
It feels firm enough but not super smooshy, it just performs really well. All the gestures you expect to use swiping up and down to finger gestures all that stuff works exactly as you would expect.

7.ASUS X555QA Laptop-
This Asus X555QA is one of the best video editing laptop under 500 as it may cover all the features and specs needed for a video editor or graphic designer.
The amazing thing about this laptop is that it has AMD Ryzen 7 Graphics Coprocessor which gives your image a high-quality resolution and the image looks very fantastic.
It has a standing screen display size of 15.6 inches with a 1366 x 786 pixels resolution which is not too much I know, but quite acceptable.
The good thing about the screen is that it has an LED-backlit Display which may protect your eyes from the screen brightness. So it may protect you during editing or rendering any videos.
Overall the laptop looks alright and fairly well made with plastic, comes with a textured lid cover and a silver interior visually cut into distinct halves.
The palm rest with brush finishing and the area around the keyboard with a slightly different texture.
The interior is cast from a single piece of smooth metal which also stretches around the edges of the laptop. You can say its also one of the best video editing laptop under 500.
The battery is no longer removable and the cooling solution no longer blows hotter towards the left side but through the grills hidden behind the display hinges as some on the higher end.
There are two USB 3.0, one USB 2.0, one HDMI, one VGA port, and 1 card reader option available. No Thunderbolt 3 option is available on this laptop.
You also get a few discreet statuses LED on the front lip and the Webcam on the top of the displays, speaking of those I defiantly not expecting much from these laptops in terms of live streaming quality.
There’s not a lot of complaining about the keyboards and the trackpad. There’s no back lightning system and the actual keys do feel somewhat cheap plasticky.
I d say, the typing experience on this laptop is just fine. The trackpads are identical in size but actually feel smoother and surrounded by a nice beveled edge but it’s quite noisy when it comes to registering tabs and physical clicks.
Hardware-wise Asus plans to offer this laptop with 8GB DDR4 RAM and 1 TB Hybrid HDD which is pretty much what you expect from a video editing laptop under 500 dollars. So it may help you a lot.
One thing that I don’t like About this laptop is that it has a 37 watts hour battery which only translates into about 4 hours of daily use. The battery is no longer removable like on all the older versions.

8.Dell Latitude E7450
Dell Latitude E7450 is just similar to the Dell Latitude E7250 which we have just reviewed. The difference between them has been explained above.
The great thing about this laptop is the sturdy Soft Magnesium Coating. It does not scratch up and feels very premium and nice.
When you open the device you’ll found a Fingerprint reader on the right bottom of the laptop, which is a very good option for protecting your important data from someone else.
As for built and design and everything we have a nice amount of parts that you really everything you should want to have a great layout.
The best thing about this laptop is that all of the ports are situated at the back of the laptop which is very awesome because in most of the laptops you found the ports on the left and right side which is very annoying. I like that feature.
There’s a small webcam situated on the top of the laptop which may help in capturing pictures or something. Personally, I don’t really on it.
The keyboard quality is very good because there’s a nice amount of treble definitely find enough but the great thing is the nice softly dampened feel of it.
This makes it feel so soft and all quite a nice quiet experience, no clicky sound which is very awesome.
With 14 inches display screen, we get a 1080p resolution which is fine everything looks sharp, and no problem seen at all no very nice calling issue.
The colors are very vivid and vibrant also very accurate nice contrast ratio, especially for videos this has been done very well, and it’s way more than a business device.
The Speakers quality is very good. There’s a nice amount of volume also a good amount of pace because of the reflection, mids are also very strong and the highs are very clear, and fewer muffins.
If we talk about the performance, then I wanna tell you that this laptop is powered by an Intel Core i5-5300U processor which gives speed up to 2.9GHz.
With this processor and speed, you can easily edit video and graphics without any hanging issue.
It gives you 8GB RAM and 256GB memory which is absolutely enough for running any video editing software probably. The more you can upgrade it later on.
The battery timing is also very good, as it gives you 7-8 Hours of Battery timing with a single charge which is more than enough for completing any task.
There are three USB 3.0, one RJ-45, one HDMI is placed on this laptop. Furthermore, all the casual things are placed like headphone output, Bluetooth, WiFi, etc.
With all of these amazing features, I think this laptop is the best video editing laptop under 500 dollar budget. I would highly recommend buying this laptop for video editing.

9.Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5
As with so many products, the Lenovo Flex 5 is an unassuming and understand laptop closed up it looks just like a grey slab not too thin at 2/3 of an inch or too light at just under 3 pounds.
It’s a basic 13-inch laptop and that vibe is the same when you open it up.
Aforementioned, 13.3 inches touchscreen has decently small bezels on three or four sides with a thick stick at the bottom and a webcam completely the physical slider to block it up top.
The screen itself is pretty excellent for a computer in this price range, it doesn’t have the best viewing angles and reflections and the backlight can be pretty harsh but it’s still relatively bright colors and contrasts make everything pop and the 1080p resolution is solid on display this size.
The flux 5 has a 360-degree hinge so that the screen can be flipped all the way around to use the device as a rather heavy tablet.
As such you’ll found a volume rocker and power button on the sides so you can adjust things without the keyboard.
The sides also contain two USB C ports on each side a USB port a headphone jack a security lock in the microSD card slot nothing too excited but a standard USB port is always a good thing these days.
Lenovo has built an excellent reputation for excellent keyboards. In this laptop the backlit keys are nice and large with plenty of travel, you won’t compromise on the typing experience with this device.
The trackpad is also big enough to be comfortable and has no trouble recognized various clicks and swipes.
The combo of Tenth Generation Core i3 Processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage is pretty modest. The overall experience is consistently smooth and trouble-free.
As I mentioned that this laptop hinges up to 360 degrees, so you can flip the screen around for tablet mode if that’s something you’re interested in the flex 5s hinge is strong and flips around nicely with no sticking points or friction.
The flex 5 succeeds in another area of battery life it’s not the best but the laptop did last just over 8 hours in our 10 loopings an HD movie with the screen set at 65% brightness. Which is very good.
The flex 5 is exactly the kind of Chromebook we should see more of its great everyday computer that can handle most modern-web tasks, photoshop aficionados, and video editors will continue to look elsewhere.
It’s all up to you what fits your budget and requirements. Probably according to myself, this laptop is not made for a video editor, but if you upgrade its RAM and Memory somehow then it could be the best video editing laptop under 500 dollar budget.

10.ASUS Chromebook C202
Asus Chromebook C202 is a rugged Chromebook that is inexpensive its a very budget-friendly Chromebook.
It got a rubberized coating around it that’s nice and thick so it’s gonna absorb a little bit of a beating.
The keyboard has a nice big letter with the keys having two millimeters of travel so it feels very nice, on some Chromebooks the keyboards are not that amazing but definitely decent from the others.
The trackpad is a little bit of getting used to its’s a small trackpad and is not super responsive but in this budget it’s Okay.
The Good thing about this laptop is that it has a water spill-proof keyboard which means if some water spills on the keyboard it’s not gonna kill all the laptop and it’s gonna be garbage.
The battery timing is just average like 4-5 hours a day only which means you need to complete your editing during this time frame.
The screen is about 11.6 inches, which is typical for a Chromebook, the resolution is average at best, but you can’t really complain about the price point. It hinges up to 180 degrees for perfect viewing angles.
It is powered by Intel Celeron N3060 with a speed of 2.8GHz which is not too much but quite acceptable.
Carrying this laptop is very easy as its weight is just about 2.65 pounds, Secondly, you don’t need to be worried about its dropped as for its rubberized coated, you can take it anywhere without disruption.
It comes with Built-in virus protection, updates laptops and applications automatically, boosts up in a second for any type of work, and also continues to stay fast over time.
The good thing about this laptop is that you get all the google apps which means you can edit, download and convert Microsoft Office files in Google docs, sheets, and slides.
It has 4GB RAM and 16GB eMMC storage which is very low for a video editor so that I never recommend you to buy this laptop for video editing because it may disturb you a lot but if your budget is very low then you can go with this.

Buying Guide
Purchasing a laptop is easy, but purchasing a laptop for video editing could be difficult, and also when it includes budget
But don’t need to be worried at all because jimmy is here to help you in buying the best video editing laptop in this price range. So let ill tell you.
Please keep these specs in mind before buying a laptop for video editing.
RAM:
The first thing you need to be focus on is the RAM(Random Access Memory) because it’s very important for a video editor to have a laptop with good RAM capacity.
Because the RAM gives your laptop a boost, open the programs and software within seconds.
Let ill explain to you in short: The more RAM installed in your laptop the faster your work will be like: Render the videos in seconds, No hanging, and No error will be found.
Most of the software in the market like Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects and Camtasia, etc requires about 8GB of RAM for good running, that’s for I have listed the best laptop with 8GB RAM under this price tag.
So a video editor needs to have a laptop with good RAM capacity if he wants to finish her task quickly.
Memory or Storage:
Secondly, you need to be focus on the storage because it also boosts up your system speed. Let ill tell you something:
If you are a video editor you may notice that sometimes when you render your videos it takes so much time. Did you know why it should take too much time?
Yes, you’re right. Because your storage capacity is very low and when it’s low you need to face that issues. So it’s better to look out for the storage capacity also.
Screen Size:
Last but not the least, the screen size also important not too much but fairy important because as a video editor you may edit videos.
Suppose you are editing videos with a small screen and a large screen. I can surely say that you would also prefer the big screen because with a big screen you edit video very easily and quickly but with a small screen you may found some problem.
It’s on you, I prefer to choose an average size screen laptop.
Conclusion:
I hope after viewing our list of 10 best video editing laptops under 500 dollars and reading our simple buying guide you can select the best laptop for video editing according to your choice.
“Let ill give you a short summary: If your budget is just 500 dollars and you want to buy a perfect laptop for video editing then I will recommend you to buy ASUS F512DA-EB51 VivoBook or Dell Latitude E7250
Because these two laptops may cover all the important features that are the need of a video editor.
But if your budget is a little bit more only a little, then I recommend you to buy Lenovo IdeaPad 3 14” Laptop because it’s just Awesome. Having high specs in a responsible price range. Just love it.”
Thank you so much!
